Set in Paris at the turn of the 19th Century, Casque D’or follows the love affair between gangster’s moll, Marie (Signoret, Room at the Top) and reformed criminal Georges Manda (Reggiani, Les Misérables). When mob boss Felix Leca (Claude Dauphin) takes an active interest in their affair, an underworld rivalry ensues. One of the great films about the Belle Époque, Renoir called Casque d’Or “a masterpiece of the screen” and it arrives on our screens in a magnificent 4K restoration.
