An underrated film in Hitch’s back catalogue, Rope is a lean, mean thriller about a "perfect murder".
An underrated film in Hitch’s back catalogue, Rope is a lean, mean thriller with a killer concept. Determined to carry out the “perfect murder”, two young men strangle a former classmate in their penthouse apartment, stuff his body in an ornate chest in the middle of the room, and proceed to host a dinner party. But they probably shouldn’t have invited their old housemaster Rupert (Stewart) who begins to suspect something is amiss.
Screening as part of our Alfred Hitchcock season.
