Ken Russell impishly deformed folk-horror into laugh-out-loud bizarro sexual absurdity in this outrageous cult-classic.

Garish and unhinged, this high-camp adaptation of Bram Stoker’s reviled final novel sees a small Derbyshire village descend into lascivious frenzy at the bidding of the seductive Lady Sylvia Marsh: a shape-shifting vampire priestess who terrorises her victims with a spiked reptilian phallus and hallucinogenic venom, in service to a primordial snake-god.

With truly ludicrous early-career performances from Hugh Grant and Peter Capaldi, Russell’s sacrilegious mockery of button-down conservatism is raucous mind-boggling stuff!
