Joining us in February is acclaimed British director Moin Hussain, whose work delves into themes of identity, isolation, and belonging.

After graduating from university, he began his career through the Directors Guild trainee programme, directing his first short film, Holy Thursday, with support from Creative England.

His 2017 short, Real Gods Require Blood, premiered at Cannes Critics’ Week and was followed by Naptha in 2018, a science fiction film supported by Film4 and inspired by his teenage experiences moving from London to Norfolk.

Hussain’s debut feature, Sky Peals (2023), funded by Film4, BFI, and Screen Yorkshire, premiered at the 80th Venice Film Festival to critical acclaim. Building on the ideas in Naptha, the film explores themes of alienation and self-discovery.

He is currently developing two new projects: one set in a 1970s Yorkshire textile mill and another based in World War II Burma.
