Misa’s (Kamishiraishi) PMS has often resulted in workplace incidents, inevitably contributing to her inability to hold onto jobs.
After five years of unsteady employment, Misa finds a sense of belonging, but her peace is disrupted by the solitary and anti-social Takatoshi (Matsumara), whose benign everyday rituals frustrate her.
Takatoshi, who suffers from a severe panic disorder, shares a mutual difficulty in the form of struggling to function in everyday life, and once the pair find the right footing, they compassionately push each other to live “normal lives” despite their debilitating conditions.
Director Sho Miyake’s tender drama draws out a nuanced character study of this duo as they struggle to find their place in society due to their ongoing symptoms.
A challenging, unusual, and empathetic work that deals with PMS and panic disorder among the younger generations.
