‘Dying is easy, comedy is hard.’ More than any other genre of film, comedy walks a precarious tightrope, requiring all the human insight, character development and razor-sharp writing of any drama but with the additional prerequisites of pinpoint timing and, very often, a healthy sense of absurdity. And yet, too often, funny just isn’t taken seriously.

Not so at The Short Cinema, where we have invited Leicester Comedy Festival Award Nominated Promoters Popcorn Funnies - led by Leicestershire-based filmmakers Laura Wilkinson and Mike Yeoman – to select short films from around the world designed to make you laugh.

This screening will be introduced by acclaimed promotion designer for the UK comedy scene, Paul Banks of Peril Designs.
