Moving in the Shadows - Remembering Leicester’s 1960s Creative Scene (18)

From Leicester filmmaker Joe Nixon Moving in the Shadows: Remembering Leicester's 1960s Creative Scene explores our city's vibrant culture during the swinging sixties.

In the social climate of the swinging sixties, the times were changing. With this came new opportunity and freedom, enabling young people to create new identities, spearhead innovation and forge a creative revolution. For the first time ever, many were working-class kids from provincial cities, and Leicester was no exception.

With amazing archive footage, and music from Leicester band Family, this documentary explores this fascinating untold story, and highlights some of the key characters from Leicester’s vibrant creative scene.

The original screening was a sell-out, and due to popular demand its returning for another run. Proceeds from the film will go to local charities Soft Touch Arts and BrightSparks Arts in Mental Health.

The evening show on Tue 21 May will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A about the film and Leicester's creative scene during the sixties.
