"★★★★ – a nuanced, tender picture" – Empire

“A beautiful, resonant film” – Los Angeles Times

A photograph and the determination of a grandmother to see her grandson married bring unlikely lovers together in Ritesh Batra’s Photograph.

When Rafi’s grandmother refuses to take her medicine until he marries, the struggling Mumbai street photographer convinces shy stranger Miloni to pose as his fiancée. Somewhere in the pretence they find a truer version of themselves and perhaps also real romance.

Photograph evokes the warmth and quiet charm of Batra’s breakout 2013 hit The Lunchbox with its mismatched romance, outstanding performances and subtle commentary on modern India.
