Join us at Phoenix for a double bill from the master of nihilistic cool Seijun Suzuki, both starring the eccentric, intense (and artificially enhanced cheek-boned) Joe Shishido.

First up the fantastically titled yakuza film Detective Bureau 2-3: Go to Hell Bastards! Shishido stars as no-nonsense private detective Hideo Tajima who is enlisted to infiltrate a new secret gang who are dealing arms, but Tajima didn’t reckon on falling for the head mobster’s mistress!

We follow with Suzuki’s magnum opus, the hugely influential hitman movie Branded to Kill - the film that would finally get him fired from Nikkatsu Studios and blacklisted for over 10 years. Shishido plays Goro Hanada, the Japanese underworld's third-ranked hitman. After failing an assassination mission, Hanada becomes hunted by the phantom Number One Killer.
