Phyllida Lloyd’s (Mamma Mia, The Iron Lady) new film is an empowering, deeply moving story. Single mum Sandra (Dunne) longs to provide a warm, safe home for her two young daughters, away from her possessive ex-husband.
With no help from the local council and no money to put towards a house deposit, Sandra sets out to build a home from scratch. Fighting the scepticism of friends and family, Sandra’s steely determination soon draws the attention of the local community, as she tries to build a future for herself and her girls.
With a stunning central performance from co-writer Clare Dunne, this is a story of independent spirit, redemption and courage.
