Chloé Zhao’s (Nomadland) profoundly moving historical drama Hamnet is written by Maggie O’Farrell, adapted from her acclaimed 2020 novel of the same name. The film follows the relationship between William Shakespeare (Mescal) and his wife, Agnes (Buckley), from their first meeting to the tragic death of one of their children.


Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley give stunning lead performances, with Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn rounding out the supporting cast, in this highly anticipated tale that imagines the tragic origins of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
