Mann made his feature-length directorial debut with this superb TV movie starring Peter Strauss. Incarcerated in Folsom prison for killing his abusive father, Rain Murphy (Strauss) is obsessed with running around the prison yard to escape the inmates’ power struggles and the boredom of his reality. When prison staff realise how fast he is, the warden asks the inmates to build a new running track that just might give Murphy a shot at the Olympic trials.
