★★★★ – Time Out
Steven Soderbergh’s supremely enjoyable and often hilarious new film stars Michaela Coel as aspiring artist and talented forger Lori (Coel).
Approached by the estranged heirs of celebrated painter Julian Sklar (a superbly acerbic McKellen), their plan is simple – Lori will pose as Sklar’s new assistant in order to steal and complete a series of abandoned paintings from his London home for a share of the profits when resold. But as Lori and Sklar verbally spar over age, art and legacy, Lori’s real motive for taking the job begins to appear.
