Powell & Pressburger's 1944 Chaucer classic screens as part of our our Open Country season.
Through the stories of four 20th century pilgrims, legendary filmmaking duo Powell & Pressburger tenderly show how the tradition and spirit of Chaucer's A Canterbury Tale remains unchanged over the centuries: A country court judge does penance for a troubled conscience, an American soldier traces his ancestry to Canterbury, a young woman finds solace through wartime grief, and a frustrated musician desires to play the catherdral's mighty organ.
