Join us for a conversation with Thara Popoola, exploring her career journey as a screenwriter, and her role as co-founder of Black Women in Scripted.


Thara Popoola is a NAACP-nominated screenwriter and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree working across comedy and drama. A former paralegal, her writing is sharp and character-driven. Credits include Sex Education, Queenie, Crongton, Dreaming Whilst Black, Black Ops and Pierre. She also co-founded Black Women in Scripted and has several original projects in development.


The discussion will focus on Thara’s career journey from being selected for the Channel4 Screenwriting Scheme in 2021 to being a full time screenwriter for television.


She will also discuss her role as the co-founder of Black Women in Scripted, a thriving network of over 350 Black women and non-binary creatives across film and television.
